Device Remote Technician

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

This position is responsible for interpretation and assessment related to cardiac implanted devices including patient education related to remote transmissions.  The work for this position is done by phone and computer.

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Assesses, collects, prioritizes and synthesizes comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation
  • Evaluates, documents, inputs and interprets device results from TTM and remote transmissions providing preliminary reports for the cardiologist’s review and signature.
  • Maintains medical documentation in the patient record related to the service preformed.
  • Assesses patient questions/concerns and refers to clinician/provider as interpreted on transmission
  1. Remote Platforms Testing
    • Process tachy and brady platforms web based remote cardiac rhythm management device transmissions to include (Carelink, Latitude, Merlin and Biotronik)
      1. Retrieval of remote transmission data
      2. Accurate interpretation, analysis of diagnostics and summary of collected data
    • Timely communication of device/rhythm issues to the appropriate medical staff and patient.
      1. Communicate results of transmissions to patients as necessary
      2. Triage signs and symptoms related to transmissions
  • Route findings to appropriate provider with necessary documentation.
      1. Troubleshoot results of transmissions with industry tech services as necessary
  • Remote Device website maintenance to include:
      1. Scheduling
      2. Current demographic maintenance
  • Track disconnected monitors and contact patient as appropriate
  1. Out Patient Pacemaker Threshold Testing
    • Under the direction of the device RN perform in- office Pacemaker threshold testing to include:
      1. Interrogation of pacemaker
      2. Perform (auto/manual) testing of device leads
  • Interpretation of data and optimization of device programming
      1. Accurate summary of findings and generation of report and MD letter
      2. Accurately complete charges generated by visit
  • Timely communication of device/rhythm issues to appropriate medical staff
  • Provide ongoing education to patient/families
  1. Documentation
    • Documents effectively according to MHVI Guidelines including Excellian and Paceart
  2. Education
    • Participates in staff education related to essential job functions
    • Makes recommendations, participates and assists in writing and revising new and current device clinic protocols

EMPLOYMENT SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Bachelor degree in Exercise Physiology or equivalent cardiac rhythm experience
  2. Savvy with computers and electronic equipment
  3. Must be detail oriented
  4. Excellian/EPIC experience preferred
  5. Comfortable working with physicians
